6 weeks post hysterectomy - bladder pressure / irritation

Hello, I am at almost 6 post op, vaginal hysterectomy- kept both ovaries with vaginal cuff.. When did the pressure/irritated feeling around/above your bladder go away? I am still getting this off and on? No signs of UTI...doesnt hurt to pee. Just curious what others experienced. I dont have to return to my Dr unless its a major concern....Didnt know if I should be concerned? Thanks

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy - bladder pressure / irritation

I had the exact same feeling and it did eventually go away. I didn't keep any kind of journal but I'd estimate that it took 8 to 10 weeks give or take.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy - bladder pressure / irritation

I am 6 weeks out from LSH. I don't know if its the same thing, but l get an odd pressure sometimes on urination too. Not painful, just unexpected!! I did mention it to my Dr at my post op (along with my constipation issues that are still occurring) and they said it was normal. Am assuming it's another of those things that will just take time to heal and is just part of my body readjusting. If you are concerned do put in a call to your Dr, better to put your mind at rest.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy - bladder pressure / irritation

I have this too, right above my vagina...feels like it is a pain or discomfort right in the middle of my pelvis.
I know my bladder is really angry cause I had issues just getting it to work at all. Had to use cath for week.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy - bladder pressure / irritation

Hi! I'm 15 months post-op Nov 25. I, too, had what you're describing. My symptoms waned slowly and were completely gone around 4.5 months. Drinking lots of water/fluids, keeping my urine diluted helped a great deal in keeping me comfortable. Around the 3.5 month mark, I felt the burning sensation typical with a UTI and tested positive so in the event what you're symptoms change or you have any doub, please consult your Dr.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy - bladder pressure / irritation

Hi, I did have this feeling, no burning, just frequent urination. My doctor did straight Cath me and say my urine was cloudy. He prescribe antibiotics and I feel great. This was around five weeks post op.

I hope this helped and I hope you feel better.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy - bladder pressure / irritation

I am 10 days post-op and am having the same issue. I was concerned that my bladder had possibly dropped/shifted. Knowing that others have experienced the pressure and irritation sensation is reassuring that it's my body adjusting following surgery, as opposed to being an abnormal issue.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy - bladder pressure / irritation

Hi taralg7,

Around 10 days post op I felt the same way. I did address my doctor who told me that my bladder is still adjusting to not having my uterus there to push against. He reminded me to drink lots of water and get plenty of bed rest and don't lift any thing.

I hope this helped you and always talk to your doctor about what are feeling.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy - bladder pressure / irritation

Good morning,
I'm 24 days post op from LAVH. I notice a lot of pressure that I assume is from my bladder. It definitely gets worse if I let my bladder get too full. One of my docs thinks I may have some degree of interstitial cystitis, so it doesn't take much to get my bladder angry. At my pre op visit, by surgeon explained how she has to "tease" the bladder away from the uterus, it makes sense that the bladder is a little sensitive.
