Re: when i can drive

I drove for the first time at 3 weeks post op. Everyone is different and some doctors don't recommend driving for awhile expecially if you are still taking pain meds. I'd say if you feel comfortable then go ahead and drive I only went a short distance when I first drove good luck and if you do decide to drive try avoiding pot holes they hurt lol

Ihad a TAH with a 6" vertical incision. I am two weeks post op. I had a follow up with my Dr yesterday and she cleared me to drive because I am off of narcotic meds and can turn and twist without pain. I think most Dr's want to make sure you are off of pain meds and are able to move comfortably for your safety and the safety of others.

(((dragana)))

You'll need to seek clearance from your own doctor.

Have you found our Post-Op Page yet? It's packed with information and articles that address all commonly asked questions, including this one.

We're sending best wishes for your continued recovery!

Re: 10 days post hysterectomy - when i can drive?

You would need to get clearance from your Dr. At my 2 week check, I was not on pain meds & my Dr told me I cant drive until I no longer have any pains whatsoever. A sudden pain out of no where can impare our driving. It wasnt what I wanted to hear, but it turns out I ended up being more active then getting some pain & a lot of fatigue between week 2-3. So I put off driving. I did drive week 5.

I had a TAH, bikini line Incision and my doctor said 3 weeks. Imo (i have no medical degree in any way) I think it depends on the way you had the surgery, if you're still taking pain medicine and how you are feeling.

Don't push it though, follow your drs instructions, it's not worth it.

You need to check with your dr, as you can see, we all get different instructions. I didn't take narcotics and was cleared to drive at one week
