infection 11 days post op...help

Hi Sisters,

I have a yeast infection at 11 days post op. YUCK!!!!! I called my surgeon, he ordered med for me. Has anyone else had this problem??

I Am also very worried about returning to work. I work I'm high school spec ed. I have a few kids I have to help lift, one is over 150 pounds. I also work with behavioral kids. Breaking up a fight is not unusual. I am worried about my healing. I hope Dr. will keep me out long enough to heal. I hope I don't sound like I'm trying to just get out of my responsibilities, I just want to heal well. My Aunt almost died from a hemmorage after her hysterectomy. She had gone back to work to quickly and lifted too much.

Sorry for bothering y'all.

Blessings

Hi Heather, does your surgeon know the extent of the physical requirements? It sounds like you are already aware that we have only 1 chance to heal right from this surgery. I wasn't allowed to lift more than 5 pounds for 12 weeks. Listen to your body because it will truly tell you when you are trying to do too much. Discuss your concerns with your doctor.
I had a urinary tract infection but no yeast infection. I hope the meds work quickly for you. That has got to be uncomfortable

Re: infection 11 days post op...help

Yep, I had a yeast infec 6 days after my surgery, I was like, " you have GOT to be kidding me" on top of everything else, it was so uncomfortable.
It makes sense though, they give us iv antibiotics prior to surgery, and after surgery I was needing a pillow under my knees to sleep, as it hurt my abdomen to fully extend my legs and it would get hot and sweaty down below.
So I feel for you, I was even extra careful about not using perfumey body wash- I am still just using cetaphil for that area, I am not going through that again!
I hope things clear up quick for you.
About your job, I would be taking as much time as I could before I return.
I have 3 weeks off, as I had a lap procedure and have a desk job, but for your work, I would suggest min 6-8 weeks and even then, you are going to need assistance with lifting and breaking up these kids.
Best of luck to you and continued healing.
