Re: when does the bladder chill??

I was so used to peeing all the time before surgery because the fibroids were pushing on my bladder that using the loo every hour isn't a new thing to me. I had urinary issues right after surgery though and wasn't able to go on my own. I had 2 stick caths and 2 foleys in the hospital. Went in three days later to have the foley removed and still couldn't empty my bladder so had another one put in. Same thing happened again the next time I went in for a total of 6 catheters in eight days. NOT FUN! The doc tells me that is why I'm still having to use the loo all the time. My bladder is still irritated and trying to figure out how it's suppose to work in all the new found space it has to live in. I was actually told that I shouldn't let me bladder get all the way full and that I should use the loo at least once every 2 hours (even while I'm sleeping, but I've stopped setting the alarm to get up and just let my body wake me now when I have to go, which is about every 2 hours anyway. LOL) I ache before I have to go and right after and then there is a little bit of time in between where I feel great. It has been getting better and better over the past few days, however. My surgery was on Dec 14, so I'm just a little over 3 weeks out. I'm expecting that the bladder stuff will continue as my body continues to heal, but I don't think it will last forever. It's all just another step I'm having to take to get across the bridge over to where the grass is greener and my life is healthier.
