Lupron side effects?
Hi, I am scheduled for mid April ( no firm date yet). My Dr has me on Depro Lupron (sp?) to help shrink the fibroids so she can do a laproscopic hyst. She warned me about menopause symptoms - hotflashes, pain, irritability but I am having some weird ones - itchy, itchy skin mainly on my legs. Also my period lasted for nearly two weeks (and I have been having them every three weeks for about two years so you can imagine how much fun that was!) nothing heavy but had to wear something all the time - yuck. Has anyone else had this type of experience with the injections?
Thanks

Lupron side effects?
I was on lupron for a few months. The hot flashes weren't too bad but they come on real quick and leave pretty quick, too. It's not horrible, though. I didn't find myself getting irritable - not more than usual I did get a lot of night sweats which was annoying because it woke me up. Other than that, I couldn't complain. I did get a period after each injection so that was a bummer.
Good luck to you!

Lupron side effects?
Hi,
I can't tell you personally about side affects because I opted not to take the Lupron. Figured if I could put up with this pain and uncontrollable bleeding for almost 10 years, I could do another couple of months (my surg. is 3/23). My worry (and the doc's) was that I wouldn't be able to keep my iron levels up high enough for surgery but for now they are. If you're bleeding that much and are not on iron, you probably should talk with your doctor and see if your levels are okay. I did get a lot of feedback on the Lupron when I did my post. Do a search at the top of the main page. There really is a lot of information.
Good luck!!

Lupron side effects?
Hi sister,
I was on Lupron shots for three months prior to my surgery and had no side effects--other than vaginal dryness--due to the fact that I was given Agestin (progesterone) as "add back" therapy. The Agestin gets rid of the menopausal symptoms, while the Lupron does it job. I would as your doc about "add back" therapy.
Best to you

Lupron side effects?
Hi sister,
I also forgot to mention that my first period after Lupron lasted nearly two weeks and that was the last period I ever had.

I have one giant fibroid (size of a 16 week pregnancy) doc put me on injections of Depo Lupron with norethindrone as an add back therapy..I had sweats the first two weeks after the first injection but none since....I am spotting..aaarrrgghhh..but doc said that should end one to two weeks after my second injections..I have had a headache though the last three days and the feeling that someone has sucked my life force from my body...trying to stay chirpy but am having a hard time...I teach High school and it is tough to have an off day....

Lupron side effects?
If there is an "I HATE LUPRON CLUB" please let me know where to join. I survived 6 months of Lupron Treatments WITH the Add Back Therapy. Here is my breakdown.. In a nut shell...
GOOD:
No Period for almost 8 months.
BAD:
Hot Flashes
Night Sweats
Mood Swings
Depression
Bone Pain (Ended up in the ER)
Muscle Pain
Joint Pain
Headaches
Insomnia
Hair Loss (LOTS)
Vaginal Dryness
ZERO Sex Drive
Irritability
UPDATE:
Last Lupron Injection 10/03/03 had One injection of Depo Provera on 10/3/03 (3 month dose), never had another one.
Period started again in January (lasted 18 days) and each one is getting worse. Headed for the castle, probably by June or July.
Moral of my story:
If I knew then what I know now I would have had them wheel me right back in after my Laparaoscopy and taken it all out. Those drugs, to me, proved the saying that "The Treatment Is Worse Than The Disease"!
Take Care and Good Luck!

Lupron side effects?
Im with Seeya, Lupron is evil. I was on shots for three months to help reduce the size of my uterus. It didn't work. I did not have a period anymore but, nightsweats, total body ache, insomenia, dry as a bone, and everything else Seeya said. I just wish I had done some research before taking the shots. I still have the dryness, and the body aches, the nightsweats and hot flashes arent quite as bad. My last shot was in February.
BUT IT MAY WORK FOR YOU.
Hope this helps, good luck to you, let us know. Hazel
