Doggone Lupron!

What a relief to hear someone else has experienced the "gas thing!" I was beginning to be concerned about a gastrointestinal problem along with the fibroids -- like, maybe the fibroids had gone walk-about! The gas is easing somewhat, but still here. The abdominal bloating is uncomfortable, but not painful right now. As long as the gas doesn't get that bad again, I think I can handle it. Had my 2nd shot last Thursday and I'm beginning to feel the "mood changes." Not too bad, but sometimes I feel like I wanna crawl outside of myself. I try not to dwell on it, and it begins to subside after a while. The "warm" flashes have started, but not too noticeable yet. I just feel "yuck." Not too bad, but not very good. My DH made my day this morning by telling me I need to get some sleep -- have Samsonite below my eyes!! Nice guy, huh?? Having a hard time remembering things and staying focused, and I tire out very easily. The worst part for me so far is the horrible, horrible joint pain: knees, hands, wrists, shoulders, back. Sometimes I can hardly stand up and walk! It exacerbates the effects of already sore joints. I guess the waiting really is the worst part.

To those spotting with no pain relief yet!
Go to your pharmacy and pick up the Lupron pkg insert. It clearly states there is an acceleration of estrogen for up to 2 wks before supressing it. That explains any extra or no relief of pain and spotting. My pain slowly started going away mid 2nd month although the side effects were the worst for me the 2nd month. By the 3rd the pain was continuing to decrease (it doesn't happen overnight) and the side effects felt much more manageable, but I was also seeking homeopathic remedies (namely Lachesis) and receiving acupuncture. I highly recommend both if your insurance will cover it. It does take the edge off.

Cami,
Endometriosis can only be officially diagnosed after a laparoscopy or other invasive procedure. Unfortunately ultrasounds don't pick it up no matter how bad it is. It's quite the tricky condition. I'm not experienced in the fibroid dept but it seems if they were large enough they could be seen by ultrasound. Ask your dr. Good luck to you. Sounds like the end is nearing, thank goodness!

Doggone Lupron!

..I need to call my Dr. this week I guess...to ask about what the plan is (whether Im having a TAH or ..what...& to be clear about keeping the ovaries...) but dr is very hard to get a hold of, plus I need to find out about giving my own blood beforehand in case I need a transfusion (she did mention that possibility since I'm so anemic (I think I'm off the low end of the scale in that dept but thats normal for me)
also, I went to the google site and typed in Lupron...boy that scared me because apparently theres a lot of side effects folks arent aware of...

Donna thanks for the info...didnt know about a laparoscopy...
thanks for your good wishes!

note to BarbaraLee...all that joint pain does not sound fun...- I agree the waiting does seem to be the hard part...but I hope it subsides for you soon - take care!

Cami,

I did the same thing --- typed in Lupron in the Google search bar and boy, that scared me! But the reason I was put on Lupron was to stop the bleeding (which it FINALLY did) so I didn't need a transfusion.

Lynda...I guess thats why Im taking Lupron too...but the reverse happened because I seem to be on this marathon period that never ends now (not heavy just not going away as usual)...at least I know Im not the only one having these reactions...just hard to build up your blood when your losing it at the same time sheesh!...
