I'm home after the major overhaul ,doin good

Went on friday, May 21st for SAH/BSO,Rectocele repair and Sacral colpopexy which fixed pelvic floor hernias with mesh support.I was in surgery for nearly 3 1/2 hours. After recovery in my room, they discovered I was too heavily drugged and had to reverse the narcotic effects by giving me Nar-Can which eliminates all the narcotics in your system and then they have to start over with your pain meds. Going from barely breathing and very groggy to more alert and painfree was interesting. I really didn't know what was going on , my husband was somewhat concerned.I also had some problems with a potassium deficiency after fasting and a bowel cleansing the day before. It messed with my blood pressure meds.so they had to replace the potassium 13 little IV bags over a day.It took 7 times of poking to get an IV in for surgery because of dehydration, but for all the little glitches I feel really good. I came home on Tues. the 25th in the afternoon.I had tordal in my IV for Pain and a little pain pump
ball inserted right into my incision it was threaded along the incision internally and kept a steady flow of lidocaine going from fri. to mon. I feel I had excellent care by my doctor and the nursing care was great too.Absolutely no nausea, if you get nausea at anttime please emphasize that you get sick and they will work really hard to spare you that misery.I was allergic to the morphine in December when I had some other surgery and that slowed down my recovery so much.Vomiting after abdominal surgery is not good.I am happy to be home I walked I/2 a mile to/from the mailbox with a binder \on slo,but the sunshine is good I did hold my tummy a bit.

Welcome home princess! Glad to hear from you. Be a good girl and do what the DR told you. I was released from the castle on a Thursday and my DR said "If I see you at the mall this week-end you are in BIG trouble." LOL I thought of that when I saw your user name was kmart. Don't go there anytime soon!! HUGS!
