LAVH, Cystocele and Rectocele repair!!!

I was scheduled for a LAVH for June 10th when my GYN decided I needed to see a Urologist first. This has led to some pretty nasty testing and now they want to totally redo my insides!! Someone please tell me the "redo" is worth the trouble.

Have you gotten second opinions? I'd sure do that if it were myself.

If I was facing having all that done what I'd ask myself is: How is my life right now? Do I want to continue on this way? How will this surgery help?

I can't share info or experiences as I didn't have anything extra done with my tah/bso. Hopefully someone with that experience will come by soon and share.

Hello and Welcome. This site is amazing and you find it is full of information and support.

I can't speak from personal experience, but I can speak from my sister's. She had bladder reconstruction (slinging) several times in her 30's and 40's. In her late 40's due to cervical cancer, she had a hyst and removed ovaries. Now, in her 50's she had compelte pelvic prolapse. She has undergone one surgery to resling her bladder and correct the vaginal and rectal prolapsing. So, in other words, she had her insides "redone". She does have to undergo one more surgery to complete everything. For her, it definitely is a quality of life issue and she is glad with the results so far. I don't think she is happy to have had to undergo so many surgeries to deal with this issue, but she has a renewed and improved quality of life. Her prolapse was severe enough that her vagina was actually falling out, she had bladder and rectal incontenance.

I don't know how your symptoms are. It does come down to quality of life and complications of waiting. A decision that can only come from you and your doctor.

I will keep you in prayer for clarity, widsom and peace in your decision and journey.

Take good care and Blessings,
