Upcoming hysterectomy 10/24: Scheduled two weeks after my mom's death

My mom died almost 2 weeks ago. My hysterectomy is scheduled for Tuesday. Now my surgeon wants to talk to me one more time before the surgery. I suspect my health care team is worried about me having major surgery after an important death. While yes, I'm grieving, I just want the surgery over with. Is there anything anyone thinks I should be concerned about?

I am so sorry about the loss of your mother - that is a big one.

It is an important loss, and the doctors may be concerned. Having a hysterectomy in itself can be a very emotional and draining experience (it was for me). It is MAJOR SURGERY, and it takes much energy to physically heal from this, let alone the emotional and mental healing.

I lost my mom about 7 years before my surgery. Knowing what I know about both events, for me personally, I would not have wanted to have this surgery just two weeks after my mom's death.
