Upcoming hysterectomy: Concern for vaginal looseness

Hi all! My VH is scheduled for March 22nd. My Dr. Told me my vagina will be held open by 2 nurses so she can remove my uterus and cervix. My concern is will my vagina be looser? Is sure sounds like they will be stretching the heck out of it! I'm rethinking my VH decision. Maybe I should go with the LH? Help! Oh, I'm 33,married, and my love life is great. Hence my concern. Thank you.

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy: Concern for vaginal looseness

I had a TVH as well. And while there are instruments in the vagina holding it open for the duration of surgery, I have experienced absolutely no vaginal "looseness" as a consequence. The vagina is quite elastic and it isn't stretched so much that it can't "bounce back". However, I did experience a lot of swelling and discomfort down below for 4-6 weeks post op due to the stretching and manipulating of tissues.

My husband says sex feels just the same to him as it did pre-op.

Upcoming hysterectomy: Concern for vaginal looseness

I had an LAVH. If anything, I feel things are "tighter" down there. Sex was uncomfortable at first. Now everything has stretched back to normal. My husband did not notice any difference.
