Feeling very sore and angry

Hi, I am happy I came on the net tonight also, and have been able to read all these messages, I dont think my husband understands just how much pain we go thru, I am on day 8 and the pain has been very bad, Staying put doesnt seem to ease my pain, and I am living in an arab country where pain killers are very and ridiculously over controled, so I am on Panadol (tyenol) I just keep praying tomorrow will be better , but I can honestly say that today was worst than my 2nd day. Has everyone else had this much pain after? They left my ovaries in.

My dear I'm so sorry that your in so much pain & don't have decent pain killers. My heart goes out to you!!! I don't think I'd have been able to make it on just tylenol. I took percocet & it was wonderful. I was virtually pain free as long as I took the meds on time. My doctor also prescribed ibuprofen (800mg) for me as well. I'm wondering if you can take some ibuprofen as well? I've been advised in the past that you can rotate between tylenol & ibuprofen about 2 hours apart (depending on the dosage). So you take the tylenol then 2 hours later the ibuprofen, 2 hours later the tylenol & so on. I also used alot of ice packs & found that to be so soothing & it helped take the inflamation away. I wish so badly that you could get some stronger pain meds. Big & I pray that your pain will soon lessen.

I agree, ibuprofin and ice packs really helped me. That and lying down flat on my back stopped the "burning" at the incision site.

Feeling very sore and angry

I am sorry to hear you are in a lot of pain.

I remember feeling relatively good the first few days post op. I attribute those feelings to my body still having anesthetic flowing around. Apparently it takes a little while for your body to get rid of the anesthetic.

I remember the second and third weeks being really tough. More pain, more tired and feelings of overwhelming emotion. Crying spells, etc.

Your body has gone through some major stuff. This surgery takes a long time to recover from.

I was taking Advil or Tylenol regularly once I was out of the hospital. It took the edge off but I still felt the pain. I felt it was important to feel some pain so as to remind me of the surgery and to prevent me from feeling to good that I would overdue it.

Heating pads help. I would alternate putting it on my back and then on my stomach. Careful not to make it too hot.

I remember feeling quite discouraged at times and wondering why I put myself through it, but as they say here on hystersisters...for most of us it does get better!

I can vouch for the ones that got better! I will be a year post op next month and life is great!

Take each day as it comes. Take care of yourself. If you continue to experience a lot of pain, I would make a call to your doc.

Happy healing.

Having problems

I have not had a good time with my hyster. I found that I had many small tumors and two big ones. Something that was not found prior to surgery. I was feeling pretty good by my second week but week three was so bad. I had such pain and aquired a UTI. not something I was looking forward too. Now in week four I as still in much pain in my left side I am still very numb on that side also. I went back to dr today to find out if what i was experiencing was normal and found that the numbness may take a year to go away and then may never go away. Im haveing night sweats and hotflashes something bad. Dr says cant go on hormones till week six suggested black cohash and vitamin E. Will try that. The problem she says im having could be something with the nerves that may be pinched or scar tissue forming. she is saying that It may take the full 8 weeks for me to get back to work. Will go back to dr on the 17th for six week check up and if the pain is still there may need another surgery. Having never had major surgery before im beginning to wonder if was all worth it. I am gettting so moody just want to it be over. and I want to post more here for support but cant sit at comp too much. glad I have this site and your ladies to keep me going when i can get on and read.

Hey tinytot
My last revision was 8/27 and I about like you, the right side of me feels fine and the left feels tight and reproduces tight and grabbing pains when I move a certain way getting up from the floor or rolling over is still very painful. I see the Dr. on wed and will also see if they feel like this is normal or not. I only have my Cervix remaining and at 42 I got place on the Patch the day of surgury. I am also taking a med for hot flashes.

hey audiedr

My Dr will not put me on anything except black cohosh till my six weeks are up. says that hormones can make the endo come back and cause more problems. I also only have cervix remaining and am also 42. I have had so many hot flashes and night sweats its driving me crazy. I cant go to work like this i sweat like a pig all day and night. Hoping the black cohosh will work. only started it two days ago so we will see. Let me know what your dr says about the pain you have. My dr says it may be scar tissue and my need another surgery to fix the problem. Any one else experience this pain?

I had about a full page of questions but like a typical specialist, he listened but didn't say much. Said my left side needs more time to heal and to do some massage to assist in not getting scar tissue as much. He upped the patch Clamaria and gave me a sample of a higher level if it is not enough. I also got a sleeping pill due to the pain and discomfort of being up every two hours.
I am also off for two more weeks that will be 8 total for me.
