Pain and bright red bleeding after intercourse

Hi all I am 6 weeks post op had a complete hysterectomy due to Granulosa Cell Tumor on right Overy and Tube. I have had some complications since surgery but nothing major. I was feeling great until today. During intercourse (first time since surgery) I had pain deep in my vagina and then bright red bleeding nothing heavy just when I wipe. Also my husband said it felt as though he was hitting something sharp like maybe stitches. I am worried that maybe something ripped. Im hoping someone else has had the same experience and can give some advice. Should I call my doctor?

It's not uncommon for there to be pain and spotting after 1st time. Did you have your post op appointment yet. If not, it is possible that your husband did feel stitches and you aren't completely healed yet. I suggest you call your doctor and he can tell you if you should be seen or not and it will give you peace of mind.

As noted it is not unusual to have some spotting and cramping after intercourse. Slow, easy and you in a position of control are things to keep in mind.

Definitely call your Dr if you are soaking a pad an hour. It doesn't hurt to call your Dr if you are concerned and what you are experiencing is different than what you were told to expect.

I had intercourse for the first time at 7 weeks on Thursday and it hurt also and a little blood. I feel like i am getting a UTI now,UGGG! I will go to doc tomorrow if i still feel this way. Until this i have been doing very good and doc said at 6 week apt. i was healing very good but might want to wait one more week for intercourse,so i did.

Yea I had my post op and doctor said wait the full 6 weeks. I also was seen after that and had light spotting more like a pinkish orange color which they said was old blood and not have intercourse till that stopped. I waited until it stopped and was feeling great. ZI have had some complications so Im just worried that I just created another one. Do you think its ok to wait till the morning or should I go to the ER? Thank you for the advice...

Thank you so much for letting me know Im not the only one. This has all been so stressful. It seems that since surgery that its one thing after another. I also was told to wait until 6 weeks and no spotting and I did. I am going to call tomorrow I am just worried. Thanks and I hope everything works out for you as well.

Thank you so much for all the great advice. I am going to call the dr in the morning and hopefully its nothing. I notice that since surgery I have been worried about EVERYTHING! LOL I wasnt informed at just how many complications can arise after a hysterectomy and just how major of a surgery it was. On top of this I am now in full blown meopause so my emotions are all over the place. This forum is so helpful and I am so happy to be able to talk to people going throught the same thing!

Ok guys just found a stitch when I wiped myself could that mean that I tore open my stitches you think? Maybe Im worrying too much...

Take a breath sweetie and breathe. I know that you are worried, but you are going to be okay. There's really no way to prepare for all of the emotional and physical things that we go through with this surgery. I wish it was a way and that way you wouldn't be having a hard time. Just know that you are not alone.
The stitch doesn't necessarilly mean that you tore anything , it could mean that as you are healing, the are falling away. Are you just spotting or soaking a pad. Are you cramping. If those things are severe, go to the ER. You can always call your doctor's on call number and he would tell you what to do.

I called my dr cause I was just driving myself crazy with worry and he suggested I go to the ER to be examined but being that I have my kids with me and husband has to work that is not an option so he said the same thing as you if the bleeding or cramping gets worse I must go in if not it will be ok to wait till the morning. I really appreciate all the advice.Its nice to be able to share your concerns with people who have had a hysterectomy and understand what youre going through!
