Post op 11 days - major gas problems need advice!

Oh, I forgot. I suffered from bladder spasms which caused problems with emptying my bladder. To resolve this issue I used cranberry juice and Kegels. Both of which worked great!

Really? Kegels hurt me! lol They still do!!!! But I am doing them.. trying to strengthen everything up.

What they said ^^ I am taking psyllium husks daily (heaped dessert spoon) and eating prunes, dried figs, fresh fruit and salad. I also take gasX and 40ml of peppermint water after every single meal. It really helps. I go for a short walk every day and try to drink at least 2l of water and or tea. I also find peppermint tea to be very soothing. Also the panty girdle type undies seem to help too. good luck.

OMG ladies I just have to tell you miralax once a day everyday has been my lifesaver. I take stool softner twice a day and gas x twice a day as well. I go at least every two days without any difficulty at all. It's been a god send since I still have a rectocele that did not get repaired during surgery because of complications. Keeping everything moving well though I think has really helped with the gas as well as keeping the swelly belly down. Good luck.

Mist- SO sorry to hear about the rectocele not being repaired. Bummer!!

Gas X is great. Just make sure that you aren't experiencing pains in the back and/or shoulder... which I was told shoulder pain would be common for constipation; however, mine grew to be pains in the lower back rib cage, shoulder and then shortness of breath..... had 3 blood clots!

Thanks BSideburns, it is a bummer, but I'm getting over it now. I was so upset that it didnt get fixed I cried for days about it. I will have to go back to have that fixed in about 8 months.

Oh Imlahm, that is always such a worry(blood clots) I hope you are doing better.

ut of all the pains i have had with an hysterectomy the worst pain for me was the gas pains, i have never had any trouble with that before, it was really bad in hospital after my op the nuses gave me peppermint tea and it worked wonders, for me it was better than taking tablets.
i'd recommend it to anyone
