Upcoming Hysterectomy
I had made my decision to have hysterectomy done due to several large fibroids, not sure how many. Ultrasound showed my uterus at 14 x 10 cm, very irregular and I am definitely having problems...very heavy bleeding, clots, major drop in bloodcount, constant pressure and swelling in abdomen.
The child issue is not a problem for me (I am 47), nor the psychological aspect of "loosing my womanhood". Maybe I am different from most, but my overall attitude is to just wanting to get this over with and get on with a hopefully normal life. This is affecting my activity level and energy, which has always been very high.
My other concern is whether or not to go on hrt. I am planning to keep my ovaries.
Any advice, helpful hints, etc would be appreciated. I started reading some of the other stories out there and now I'm starting to wig out a little!
Thanks,
Taz

Upcoming Hysterectomy
Hi Taz,
Yes, many of us wrestle with the hyst decision despite the amount of misery our reproductive systems are causing! It's not easy, even after you think you've made the decision to go forward with surgery.
I'm providing a link to a series of Pre Op articles that may help you. The topics cover a lot of ground. Hope this is helpful to you.
