Uterine artery embolization

I am new to Hystersisters. I just scheduled a hysterectomy for April 8th. Everyone I know who has had the surgery raves about how much better they feel afterwards. So I am not scared to go this direction. I did however have a freind who is a doc suggest Uterine artery embolization. Has anyone had experience with this procedure? I am of the mind set to get it fixed once and for all, but thought I would explore the topic...

Only an interventional radiologist can tell you whether you are a good candidate for it or not. And that decision is based on the IR's analysis of your ultrasound or MRI results.

If you are having any doubt, you should postpone your surgery and at least consult with an IR first.

I'm having UFE on tuesday and hope to post on how it goes. I had to undergo a removal of a fibroid inside of my bladder by a urologist before my IR approved me he also talked with both the obgyn and the urologist and it is a go. Any time you can do something that is less invassive that is a good thing but it is what you in the end feel comfortable doing.
My insurance covers both so I thought i would try this first then the other second if UFE gives me no relief. I don't know how fast hysterrectomys get scheduled but for my UFE it was one week out from when the IR said I was approved that is pretty fast.
