questions about bladder problems

Im new here and I see alot of abbreviations, TAH, etc. I know TAH is total Ab hysterectomy, which is what Im having, but wondering about all the others. I have had bladder problems for several years, my uterus is 5months and pressing on bladder. Doc said that would be better after surgery. But now Im reading about all these bladder problems from the surgery. SHould i be talking to my doctor about doing something with my bladder? THe closer I get to the surgery, the more frightened I am. Thanks

questions about bladder problems

Definitly talk about your bladder problems with the doctor. I knew about two years ago that my bladder had fallen, so when my uterus dropped in March, I talked to my gyn about it.

Then my urologist got involved and I am schedule to have a TVH and a bladder sling on Thursday. I could have waited on the bladder, but would have had to fix it sometime and I just want to get it over!!

questions about bladder problems

My first GYN refused to consider any bladder issues so I sought a second opinion. If you're having bladder problems, you should have a urodynamics test to determine if you need repairs. It is easy to have it done at the same time so you don't have to go through a second surgery.

Somebody at Hyster Sisters recommended going to a urogynecologist, which turned out to be the best thing ever. A urogyn has special training in treating the entire pelvic floor, not just the uterus and ovaries. After doing the urodynamics test, she treated my cystocele and rectocele at the same time as my hysterectomy. Got a bladder sling and reinforced vagina.

As far as the abbreviations, click here to go to the list. They are found at the top of the post-op forum and I'm sure are elsewhere to.
