vaginal cuff infection

I had a LAVH and bilateral oopherectomy Dec. 11. At my 4 week post op appt. I was diagnosed with a vaginal cuff infection and ordered Doxycycline for 2 weeks.

Back and lower abdominal discomfort seems to be increasing after 1 week of antibiotics.

Does anyone have experience with this type of infection? What should I expect?

I had an infection and was out on doxy as well. For me, I think the back pain came from overall discomfort plus the pain caused by the infection which lead me to walk, sit and stand in a certain way. I think this put extra strain on my back. In attempting to be careful, my posture has probably suffered. I find that when I just walk upright, instead of leaning over because I anticipate pain, I feel better than expected.

I also had an infection after my vaginal reconstruction. I had ALOT of pain in the butt region and some lower back pain. I actually had to have an op for them to debride it and they gave me alot of antibiotics in the OR. But I will tell you when I woke up from surgery my pain and discomfort was 100% gone.

How long did your pain last? I guess I was expecting it to be gone after 1 week of antibiotics.
