Outer Thigh Pain after Hysterectomy?

Hello,

2/6 I had a LAVH. I was released yesterday and only took 2 regular tylenols since as thus far I've been lucky enough to not have severe pain.

But I do have right outer thigh pain upon when I get in and out of bed. Walking is fine and sitting no pain, just when I move it to get out of bed mainly. Then the pain will start in the outer thigh and kind of radiate down close to knee. I also do have a lower right back pain, which I'm guessing is normal. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this. I've put a call into my surgeon to just check it out. But it seems to be better today than last night.

Thanks!

Re: Outer Thigh Pain after Surgery?

Sisters have reported hip, thigh and leg pains after surgery. Our legs and hips are positioned, wrapped and strapped to give the medical team access, and to keep our limbs from shifting/falling off the table during surgery which lasts from 2-5 hours. Those positions are probably not within our usual range of motion or duration. Also, nerves can get pinched during the procedure from pressure applied against them. Either one of those could be the cause, and it'll likely take some time for it to heal.

Still, it's always fine to call your doctor to ask. He'll know the right questions to ask to determine whether what your feeling needs more attention.

Yep, I had that pain. I'm sure it's from the position we were in. Stir ups and all those straps. Probably looked like a scene from 50 Shades!!! Lol!
