rescheduled but still terrified
Hi all,
I was originally scheduled to have a LSH in Dec. but my doc went over other options and wanted to just shave one of my fibroids down a bit. I decided to just go ahead and reschedule the LSH because i don't want to have to deal with it later. I'm not going to have anymore children, in fact, i wish the youngest could have just grabbed the corner of my uterus on her way out and saved me a ton of problems. I'm less than two weeks out and still so scared, of EVERYTHING. I have to take birth control (Femcon) right up till my surgery so i'm having panic attacks about blood clots. Don't even mention anesthesia. Oh goodness, i hope i can get through this.

Re: rescheduled but still terrified
I can relate to that but in a different way. I had the same feeling when my youngest was born too. I wish that I could say that you will not develop blood clots, because I am not a psychic so I cannot tell you that. What I can tell you is that if you do develop one, your physician does have your health and well-being in mind and will address that should that concern become a reality. In the meantime, you need to know that you have the basic human right to wellness both emotionally and physically. Sometimes that road to wellness may be a rocky one, and the future is always an unknown. But for the moment, you don't have a blood clot, and you are awaiting your surgery date. I hope that this helps you feel less terrified. Spend some quality time with your family and enjoy each moment together - love and togetherness helps make the time fly, and will keep you grounded. But don't 'future trip' (a friend of mine used to tell me and several close friends about future tripping whenever an unpleasantness was approaching). It will help you get through it.
Hugs

Couple of things you can do:
Ask if they're planning to put special "massaging boots" on your legs when you go into the OR to keep your legs "exercised" and far less likely to develop clots. If they say no, find out why not.
Call your doctor and get a prescription for some anti-anxiety medication. It was the best thing I ever did! It doesn't make you sleepy, it doesn't make you loopy, it just makes your brain settle down and act like a rational being. It's not wimpy, it's just smart.

Re: rescheduled but still terrified
Take a deep breath, maybe two or three, and try to relax. The waiting is the hardest part. Do what you can to make your house ready for your homecoming after the hyster and get plenty of rest. Make sure you have your support network in place also. You're doing the right thing for your health and your recovery will hopefully be a breeze. I had the DaVinci and was back at work after week three. If you have a bible, look up and read Isaiah 41:10 . God bless you and I'm sending Hugs!

Thank you all for your comforting posts. I'm trying to think of only the positive but those darn negatives have a way of sneaking right up on you.

Re: rescheduled but still terrified
I am a week post -op, had Da Vinci hysterectomy took right ovary, uterus and cervix. I walked over a mile today and have no pain! I was Horrified I tell you!I mean my whole life for the weeks leading up to my surgery was nuts! I was worried about anesthesia, blood clots, not clotting enough, lol! I mean I was a fruitloop. I did a lot of praying and handled myself well while preparing the morning of. I you are like me you read a lot online about things that could happen , DON'T.
You are being monitored so closely the whole time. You will wake up, they have drugs to help wake you up if need be. I had the mas sager things on my legs from before surgery until he next day to prevent bloodclots.
You will do great, and will be thankful that it is over.
Good Luck!
Blessings!
