UAE success!

SUCCESS! My fibroid measured 9cmx9cm. Wow! It's hard to believe that a "grapefruit" was inside me and I didn't even feel it. But the bleeding was relentless. Every day for about 2 hours, I had to be near a bathroom. Clot, after clot, after clot... I was going crazy. Thank goodness for my friend who suggested the Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE) rather than a hysterectomy. I was reluctant, since my OBGYN didn't recommend it. But I spoke with another friend who had it done. I sought out 3 other OBGYN opinions, all with mixed messages. I was so confused, but realized that if the UAE didn't produce the results I needed, I could go ahead with a hysterectomy. I reasoned that I had to at least give the UAE a shot.

I had the Uterine Artery Embolization on 11/20/14. My bleeding immediately stopped! After only four days of pain meds, alternating Dilaudid and Ibuprofin, I have my life back! I can't believe it!!!! I was desperate and ready to go under the knife. But thankfully, I chose the less invasive approach. I really can't believe how my life has changed - without surgery.

Being 46 years old, I was fearful of being thrown into menopause, but just before Christmas, I had a period. I felt like a teenager again using Regular size tampons instead of the Super Plus along with a Mega Pad. Whew!
