Questions for the doctor

Hi
I am scheduled to have a vaginal hysterectomy on July 8th, I had a baby six months ago and to make a long story short I had preeclampsia, very high blood pressure and hemmoreged (sp) after I had him requiring blood transfusions, I also had my tubes tied a day after I had him. Since then I have had chronic pelvic pain all the time along with periods that last for about 15-20 days with a 5-10 day rest in between them, they are so bad that I have to wear a depends to bed at night just to make it through. I went to my doctor last week and was told that because I have a history of endemetriosis and other things that this was the best option so my questions are:

Will my doctor be able to see everything and explore everything with a vaginal hysterectomy?

Will my history with blood loss and blood complications be harmful with this surgery?

Is a vaginal hysterectomy the best option for me?

I should also note that when they did an ultrasound they found a growth on one of my ovaries, and so that is why I am asking if they are going to be able to see everything possible with a vaginal hysterectomy?

Will sex be the same after a vaginal hysterectomy, I am only 31 so it is important?

Any other questions that I should ask my doctor before going in for my surgery? I want to set an appointment to see him before I have it done to ask all the questions that I have in my mind. I also have to make another appointment for an ultrasound of my liver since the one I had before I had my baby showed spots on it.

I trust my doctor a lot and have thought about a 2nd oipinion but have opted against it.

So in a nutshell those are my main questions but there could be more.

Thanks
Aliya

Hello and Welcome!!

You have found the best place to be for information as well as support.

There are plenty of sisters here who have experiences to share.

I would read through the articles under the pre-op tab up at the top of the page, directly under the Hystersister logo, in the line of pink flowers. There are other topics there as well.

There is a suggested pre-op questionnaire for your use and adaptation to your own situation.

I don't have experience with endo but I know there are other sisters her who have and can help with more information and suggestions.

I will keep you in prayer and hope you have a journey that is filled with peace and that your surgery is complete and restorative.

Take good are and Blessings,
