Lost & Confused & Chicken!

Hi All!

I am new here and have never posted anything before. A little history about myself. I am 34 years old and Have Severe Endo. I think I have a 2 year Curse! LOL I have had 2 c-sections and 3 laps now. 1999 & 2001 & Now Bingo Aug 28th 2003. See what I mean 2 year Curse?

Well I had my 3rd lap last month. After my lap I could not feel my leg from my knee up and still cant feel it. My Gyn keeps telling me give it 2 more weeks...Well tommorow it will be the 5th week since my lap. I have seen my Gyn 3 times now since my lap. Needless to say I still have the same problems. Bummers. She did burn off all of the cyst. Choc cyst on my left ovary and you could not see my Right Ovary due to cyst all over it. Before the lap we had talked about removing the left ovary. Needless to say I woke up and DH told me they didnt remove it because it looked pretty healthy. Now that it has been 5 weeks I still have the same problems and I know there isn't a big cyst on my left ovary now but I still have the pain 24/7. I have to take Percoceit because I can not take Motrin and meds like that because I have a Intestinal Ulcer.....Due to taken to much mortrin and meds like it....

So my doc told me yes the Endo can be in my tubes. So between the pain and Family History I really didnt want my ovarys out. So my Gyn told me she will take Everything Out and just leave my Right Ovary.....I am to have surgery Nov 4. I am scared because.
1. I cant feel my leg since my last lap
2. Will I be able to Heal in a Week after Surgery? Because DH is in the Military and leaving to start preparing to deploy?
3. Will I survive this Surgery? (After what happen on 28 Aug?)

See so I am So Scared. Should I call it off? I am running out of time. I am in Pain All of the time. I can't raise my 2 kids in Pain and DH Not here because of Deployment.....What do I Do?
Sorry for my venting....This is the 2nd time I wrote this. I hope this one works.....LOL

I would appricate all the suggestions I can get.......Oh Yes having all of this out what are the abbreviations for them....Would you call it a total? There will be nothing left other then my Right Ovary! and also The stay in hospital for this...Either Vagianl or Abdominal? They are not sure which way the can go yet. My thinking is Abdominal...Any help I would So Appricate....Thanks for Letting Me Vent...God Bless

Lost & Confused & Chicken!

Hi there,
Sorry to hear that you are haivng so much trouble. Prayers will be with you. I didn't see if you said how old your children are. You won't be able to lift for a while after surgery due to having everything stitched. I can understand your confusion on this matter. I am sure that you will make the right decision. I also cannot decide on which type of surgery, vaginal or abdominal. Dr. says that vaginal heals quicker but they can see more with abdominal. I would also like advice on that one.
Best wishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So "SORRY"

Hi Seachel ..
God I am so sorry your haveing to go through all of that pain. And along with that you have, many choices to make.. I am a little speecheless here .. You didn't say how old your kids were?
Is there anybody Family-or Friend that could come stay with you for a week or so, and help you take care of the kids? The term used for a Total Hysterectomy is --> TAH I had mine almost 5 weeks ago, I had EVERYTHING removed.. I have a family history of cancer. And I ended up getting Cervical Cancer, so I had no choice in keeping my ovaries. But I would have had them removed regardless. ..I think too many women are having problems with their ovaries even after surgery. I read this in your post:

I think You can't live on pain pills, for the rest of your life. Your probably going to have to make a choice sooner or later ... I guess we all had to ..
I am glad I had my surgery, my life is so much better...(nO Pain)
I hope you can make the right choice very soon.

As to the kids That's a tough one for me, I have 3 but they are all grown up ... My son is 34 my daughter is 29 and youngest is 21. I already have 8 grandkids counting my new hubbys 2 .. But that doesn't help you ... I wish there was more I could say to make you feel better.

I do know the Endo could be everywhere, it was in my case. I had a D&C in 1995 but it grew back. The Dr told me the Hysto was the only way to rid my body of it .. The D&C was just a Temp way ....

I hope some women in here will respond to your needs this time. I am so sorry you didn't get any answers the first time ... And I am sorry I can't give you more help ...Except a shoulder to lean on..
Best Wishes
Enjoli

Lost & Confused & Chicken!

Hi Seachel.

Welcome to the site and to the sisters. I had my surgery on 9/4 for endo and fibroids.

I am active duty Air Force and so is my husband. He stayed home with me the first week and went back to work the second. I am grateful he did not deploy because he is my children's primary caregiver during my recovery-even at 4 weeks postop. I am having pretty severe insomnia and I cannot function in the morning to get them ready for school. Myyoungest is 6, then a 8 yr old, then 13, and 17. The two oldest ones are self-reliant, however, so I'm lucky in that respect.

Your driving priveleges will be suspended for the first couple of weeks (typically) and you won't have the energy to go grocery shopping or keep getting up and down to get drinks, prepare food etc.

How old are your children? Does you husband's squadron or unit know about your surgery and are they willing to help? Has your husband discussed this with his First Sergeant?

Only you can make this decision for yourself but you are going to need help since your husband will be deployed. How long will he be gone? My husband is taking care of all of our financial, car, and banking issues. Who do you have who can help you with this? Deployments of spouses are so overwhelming without impending surgery adding to the mix. What about your church or neighbors?

I wish you luck, you have much to think about and I hope you fell better no matter what you have decide at this time.
