is moodiness normal?

I have been extremely moody for the past few weeks--easily irritated, easily teary. Is this normal as the surgery date gets closer?

Yup, i think thats pretty normal and probably your bodies response to anxiety (passive or active). You might also go on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for a while post-op but hang on in there and take it one day at a time.

I hope it's normal because it's so what I am dealing with!

Yes, the emotional before AND after surgery is very normal. This is a very tough surgery to process before, and can be very tough from which to recover.

As ((Coumarin)) said, take it one day at a time - pre-op as well as post-op.

I've been very emotional since I got the news 9 days ago. I noticed my reactions to other worries are heightened as well. I'm managing by keeping my mind busy with mindless chores and hobbies.

I spent quite a bit of yesterday crying about mine. It's on 12/3. It just hit me, the reality of it all. I hope it's normal because I was a hot mess and I don't even like that term!!!! My eyes were so swollen this morning, it looked like I had pink eye.

I hope it's normal! I feel like I've been crying for days..and when I'm not teary I'm pretty crusty. I've had to apologize for my bad attitude at work..It's like road rage..everywhere! It is a lot to process. I'm still waiting for my date, already been waiting for a month..
