Having trouble with my blood pressure - should I be concerned?

I recently had my surgery on March 24. I got to come home on March 26th. I have Lupus SLE to deal with as well. I am walking around but having trouble with my blood pressure. I have never had this problem before. I know that its going up because I get dizzy and headaches. Its running 158/97.

Re: Having trouble with my blood pressure - should I be concerned?

Hi!

It's good that you're monitoring your blood pressure. You'll want to let your doctor know that it's elevated. Before surgery mine was usually higher than normal, then was normal for a while post-op and returned to being higher as I got further into recovery. It's not unusual for blood pressure to fluctuate but it's definitely something you and your doctor should monitor.

Best wishes as you continue to heal!

Re: Having trouble with my blood pressure - should I be concerned?

My blood pressure went up about a month before surgery and I have been dealing with it every since. I'm just over 6 1/2 weeks. I did not start HRT because it had been so high. After monitoring it three times a day for several weeks, last week the doctor put me on medication to try and get it stable. I finally started HRT last Thursday and blood pressure took a nose dive and has been really low since. It's been bad enough that I get dizzy. I'm wondering if blood pressure problems have been hormone related. I stopped the blood pressure meds because it is still really low. I am suppose to see next Friday but think I'll give him a call tomorrow and let him know what's going on. You really do need to monitor it and be in touch with your doctor. Hope things settle down for you.

Re: Having trouble with my blood pressure - should I be concerned?

I finally had to go to the Heart specialist because not only was bp going up but my heart rate was averaging 110-116 and would not go done for about a week. It would wake me up during the night. They put me on meds and heart rate has gone down with the meds.

I had my cervix and uterus removed. This is week 3 today. I am still having so much pain where my cervix use to be. My doctor told me at my post op last week that my stitches inside wasn't healing as fast as she would like. Don't know if this could be something from my Lupus or what. I had a bad day today. I am not sleeping good. I do get up and feel ok and then it goes down hill. Is this normal and will it get better?

( I am 33) I had blood work as well and my Liver and Kidney results were abnormal.
