Did I just waste my money?

A few days ago I purchased HysterSisters' Abdominal Binder. I had my preop app and asked my doc if there will be a need for me to have a tummy binder (per the pre-op questions HS says to ask). My doc said no. Is the Abdominal Binder the same as a tummy binder? I'm wondering if I should return the tummy binder.

Thanks for your input!

Re: Did I just waste my money?

I'm waiting to hear back from my OB whether or not he thinks it will do any good to wear one, before I buy one. I think maybe you should ask your doctor if there are any benefits to wearing one, rather than if it is "needed". If it was needed they would tell you to get one as part of your pre-op instructions, I would think. But if it helps you feel more comfortable during recovery, while not a medical necessity, might be nice. I would also ask if there is any reason why he would advise against using one, in case there is a specific reason you shouldn't use one for your personal condition/recovery.

Re: Did I just waste my money?

I never asked my surgeon if I needed an abdominal binder... I actually bought mine from here *after* my surgery because I was walking around holding my belly. For me, I found that my belly just wanted to be held, and the abdominal binder did it for me perfectly, and left my hands free.

Re: Did I just waste my money?

I know my friend said she definitely used hers after her surgery. The hospital she was at actually gave her one to use and take home. She said if they don't give me one I can have her hand me down, haha. She described similar feelings as amber rose, not so much a need as a very strong want for comfort and convenience's sake.

Re: Did I just waste my money?

I've been considering buying the one here. When I spoke to my dr. on the phone yesterday, I mentioned it. She said she can get me one at the hospital.
