HELP! Hemoglobin up...I'm good to go & PANICKING!
Hi all,
My original TAH was scheduled for June 25, but was postponed until July 30th due to 8.9 (very low) hemoglobin.
Well, I went to a hematologist and my hemoglobiin is now 11.4 (low normal), so I'm moving ahead.
With all the pain and suffering I go through both daily and especially during menstruation, why am I disappointed??! I was hoping I wouldn't get clearance. Am I nuts?
I wonder if part of it is because I'm really scared. I feel like I'm not going to come through this. I've had 2 major surgeries prior.
One in 1999, a major myomectomy, to remove 19 fibroids.
And, one in 1987. A botched appendectomy which caused peritonitis (gangrene) and an open wound for a year. I nearly died 3 times.
However, I don't remember being so scared in '99. I just did it.
Anyone else feeling this way? (It's like I'm trying to come up any reason to cancel the surgery -- gotta make more money first; apartment is ready (just moved here); not a good time to leave my cat alone...crazy stuff!)
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hemoglobin up...I'm good to go & PANICKING!
Hi,
It is normal to feel panicky and get cold feet. It is major surgery and of course no one likes to have surgery.
The way to make yourself feel better is to make a list of all the good reasons to have this surgery and think about being pampered and crowned a princess. I bought myself new nightgown and robe, magazines and things to read, new lotion, etc. I thought how it would be the new me, pain free. Yea!
Just keep thinking the positive and stay busy so not to dwell on the the scarey stuff.
I will be thinking of you and wishing the best for you. You can do this, just like myself and many other brave ladies before us.
