escape from the Castle!!!

Hello everybody and thank you for your support. Sorry it has taken me so long to write. I got out Christmas Day, but have had some computer glitches. Dr. was unable to save left ovary; ended up with TAH, plus ovaries and tubes. Then to top it all off, once she got in there, there was endometriosis EVERYWHERE. So major scrapeage of the pelvic cavity was done. I don't remember the day of surgery at all, but I did go with the epidural catheter for pain relief. My partner, Rebecca, did not leave my side for the entire time, and made sure that I had good quality coffee, food (hospital food unbelievably atrocious) and the best care possible.
So, here I am 10 days post surgery, a new millenium and I'm stunned at how weak I am!!! I feel a major sense of accomplishment when I fart! I'm doing a little bit more every day, pain is finally getting better and I'm very grateful to not have that toxic feeling anymore. Anyone with input on endometriosis, feel free to share your experience. Also, I have an estrogen patch, surgical menopause, and am having hot flashes???!!! So, all you Princesses, thank you and good luck to those of you heading to the Castle.

escape from the Castle!!!

Welcome back! I'm sorry you got more than you bargained for with the ovary and endo. Rebecca sounds like a real keeper though.

Hang in there with the weakness thing - I had that with my first surgery. Man, was I wiped out! It was supposed to be kinda minor, but it took me about a month to get back to doing things. When I tried to exercise at 2 weeks (this wasn't a hyst, remember) I got leg cramps after just a minute or two. Do everything slow and easy, don't push yourself, and in time your energy will come back.

Get your rest!

Glad to hear that you're home and recovering. Take as much time as you can and go slow. Let Rebecca help you as much as possible. When you feel up to it, try to walk a little, that will help with the gas and will help with bilding your energy back up a bit. Remember to listen to your body, though, and rest when you are tired or you are hurting. Drink lots of water and think about how good it will feel not to hurt any more! Happy New Year!

Fishgirl - Welcome home It's amazing what little things after surgery are actually major accomplishments I remember them well.

I think, at least in my case, that energy level was the last thing to return...don't rush yourself!!! The more you do...the more pain and swelling you'll have...there's LOTS of internal stitches that need to heal. REST - feet up...this is crucial throughout the 6 - 8 weeks recovery time. Sitting for prolonged periods of time can also cause inflammation and pain.
