Diabetes, airplanes, weddings and other assorted ?'s

Ladies - your posts have been my life-savers in the past several weeks of pre-op jitters. I finally have my pre-op tomorrow afternoon, with TAH surgery on 4/11; I can finally ask my doctor the huge list of questions I've gathered.
But I am wondering if anyone else has experienced some of the questions I have. Around the same time my surgery was scheduled, I was diagnosed with diabetes. Right now we are trying to control it with diet and exercise and I don't generally experience low blood sugar episodes. My problem is trying to bring the blood sugar level down. My dietician told me to expect it to go high due to the trauma of surgery. I'm concerned about not being able to eat the right foods afterwards and because I won't be able to exercise. Is there anyone else out there with diabetes and how did you deal with it post surgery?
Next - ! My sweet daughter in law is graduating from college about 3 1/2 weeks after my TAH and we had long ago purchased airline tickets to go visit them. Am I being overly optimistic by not cancelling our reservations? I will talk with my doctor about flying and a big part of me says, "Get real; you're not flying anywhere." I guess I'm hoping someone will have had traveling experience and give me some hope about it!
And thirdly - ! My daughter is getting married in mid-August. She's my only daughter (also 2 boys) and I've looked forward to her special day since she was born. What timing, huh? Someone please tell me that if I'm good and follow all my doctor's orders and take it very, very easy for a few months, that I'll be up to dancing all night at her wedding!!!!
The waiting is the worst, as so many people have said. Trying to get things taken care of at work is a nightmare and I cannot even think about starting to clean my house. I want it to be the weekend, so I can start focusing on what needs to be done for ME and for my precious husband before I go to the castle on Tuesday.
This post is a rant. A nervous rant! I keep telling myself I've given this all to God and I won't take it back... I won't take it back... I won't take it back... !
Thank you for being here when ranting is needed and everyone else around me would think I was crazy. Blessings on everyone on this board-truly a God-send
and thank you for allowing me to rant and question!!

Diabetes, airplanes, weddings and other assorted ?'s

I can't answer most questions, but I just went through my hospital's pre-cert questions (a mile long) and they asked about diabetes, as well as whether I wanted to meet with a dietician. I said YES, not because I am diabetic, but because I have heard hospital food can be low in nutrition. I want to make sure my soups or whatever aren't full of MSG, etc.

I have a separate stash of food to bring to the hospital. Boxed soups that can be heated in microwave and organic juices, etc. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised and won't need them.

-k.
