13 weeks post op- aches and pains

Hi all,
I am thirteen weeks post-op but still have issues. Still have lower back pain, pain when I turn over in bed, and still occasionally feel discomfort at incision area (not totally closed) when I reach too far.
Am desperatly trying to get back to normal. Started HRT a week and a half ago and finally ewent back to work four days ago. Seems as if the smallest thing will bring on a torrent of tears.
How long will all of this take.

Re: 13 weeks post op- aches and pains

Well I am at almost seven weeks, vaginal not abdominal, full of aches and twinges, and not feeling a lot different than I did at three to four weeks. I still have quite a bit of vaginal swelling and tenderness when I am too active. Slow healing indeed! So although I don't have much insight, I can sympathize a little bit!

Re: 13 weeks post op- aches and pains

Hi emotionalme, sorry to hear you're finding it a bit hard going. I'm a few weeks behind you and have also been myself asking, when on earth will i turn the corner. One part stops aching and another one starts up. I had no idea how totally floored i would be by this surgery. To make myself feel better, I have tried to compare how i feel now to how i felt 4 weeks ago and yes, there is an improvement. I have stuck fast to all the do's and don't's but guess i have to let mother nature take her time. From the posts on this website, its seems we have examples from the full spectrum of slow healers to those who recover like whippets. Try and hang on in there, soon, we shall wake without a new pain and then really worry!!

Re: 13 weeks post op- aches and pains

It's not an easy ride. Just when I started to feel better I became constipated which apparently weakened my pelvic floor and I'm now a bit incontinent. Hoping estrogen and Kegels will help. It really does seem like one part gets better and another aches.

But ... I think that's the nature of this healing. I have a good friend who had the same surgery (with cervix left) and she said it was fully a year before she was able to do whatever she wanted without being reminded in some way that she'd had the surgery.

All we can do is enjoy the good days and try and pamper ourselves on the not so good days
