LSH and mid-urethral sling

After speaking with the specialist and discussing all of the pros, cons, options and possible complications, we have come to a decision.

I will be having a Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy and mid-urethral sling surgery. It is tentatively scheduled for 2/26/13. While it was a difficult decision to make, I feel comfortable with the decision.

There are so many symptoms and there were complications with nearly every possible procedure that we haven't already tried. I keep finding myself trying to make myself laugh with this question... does it make me morbid if I want to have a funeral for my uterus? =)

Re: LSH and mid-urethral sling

Hi watchingthetree!

No, it does not make you morbid for having a funeral for your uterus. I have read of all sorts of things ladies do. It is how you want to deal with it - and that is what is important. And it sounds as if you have weighed your options with your doctor, and surgery is the best solution for your condition.

This surgery is much to process and digest. The emotions and freakouts and nerves are all normal. We are here for you and will be by your side throughout this.

Re: LSH and mid-urethral sling

My surgery day is just about 3 weeks away. I wasn't nervous before but now that it's coming up, I am. Going in to see my doctor for the preop appointment tomorrow and the fact that this is really going to happen is settling in. I've been trying not to think about it as a surgery only as the end of my current suffering. My daughter is 11 and was asking me about the surgery yesterday and she asked if I could die. I tried to alleviate her concerns as best as I could but it was a real eye opener on how it was affecting my kids. I didn't even realize they were worried. This site has helped too. Thank you for being there for me.

Re: LSH and mid-urethral sling

It is scary for mommy to be going into surgery! It is scary for you as well. Your brain could put it off when it was distant, but now that it is close it gets harder. It is normal for your emotions to intensify right now. It can be quite the !

Tell your kids and yourself that the doctors and nurses will take very good care of you. They will watch over you and see you through the surgery.

We are here for you. We really understand what it is like. You have lots of support here on this site.
