Kept Ovaries......Hot Flashes????

I had mine on 1/6/05 and told my doctor I would get hot suddenly. He just said it was hormonal but I wasn't expecting this when I decided to keep my ovaries. I don't know how long it lasts either?

Kept Ovaries......Hot Flashes????

Hi Ladies;
Although I was not able to keep my ovaries I do know that they can take a while to "wake up" after surgery.

Here is a link that discusses your ovaries shutting down;

Best wishes to you!

Sleep is coming!

I am almost 41 (in March) and had hysterectomy and kept ovaries on 1/7/05. I had night sweats and difficulty sleeping for about 2 weeks. It has gotten much better almost non-existent now. I am moving around quite a bit now and I think that is when it started to get better. I am doing light walking and regular household activities, but also resting quite a bit. Hopefully, your ovaries will wake up soon too.

Kept Ovaries......Hot Flashes????

Thank yoiu very much for the info. I really appreciate it. I am only 26 years old and was in fear that I would have to go through menopause at this age. But it sounds like there is hope that things will get back to normal in time.

Thanks again.

Kept Ovaries......Hot Flashes????

Me too! I started actually soaking the sheets at night after the first two days of surgery...but that passed quickly. I am much warmer feeling now than before surgery. I mentioned this to my dr and she said it was normal. I am kind of enjoying not feeling cold...as I have been freezing feeling since my thyroid went bad in 94. So, I am enjoying being warm.

Take care,

Kept Ovaries......Hot Flashes????

Well, I'll be 8 months post-op in a couple of days - LAVH - kept ovaries. I didn't have any hot flashes but mostly night sweats and insomnia. It would come and go - I haven't had any of the nightsweats for a couple of months and the sleeplessness only occurs I think when I'm ovulating. EVERYTHING IS MUCH BETTER NOW!! Wishing you luck in your recovery and remeber to take it easy and drink your water!
