Re: I Have the Incision Glue- What's the Story vs. Staples?

I have three incisions and all of them are glued.. (Also my previous C sec was glued.. and it FREAKED me out..) If you want the glue to go away.. try a little petroleum based gunk on them... like staphaseptic or a little bit of neosporin around the edges.. EDGES.. don't like slather the stuff on.. and it will start to peel. Right now what I'm dealing with is the navel cut is just a wad of glue in my bellybutton.. and it's all peeling off and in a glob.. and what's been exposed (it did it at 2 days post op!) is getting infected... cause it came off too early I think.. Plus navels get sweaty and gross and no air gets to them.. so I have an appt tomorrow to have the doc check it out.. Good luck to ya..and no.. your innards aren't going to tumble out.

I also had the glue. No itching or discomfort from it at all. Other than washing it in the shower, I left it alone until it started to peel on its own after a couple weeks. Then, when it got annoying, I did help it along a bit. I could tell when I was helping too much, that's for sure! But it was completely gone within a month and everything looks as good as can be expected! But yeah, I get the freak out over the idea that some glue was all that was holding things together. Very weird indeed!

Re: I Have the Incision Glue- What's the Story vs. Staples?

I have had 4 abdominal surgeries. One which was my hysterectomy at the end of october. I had staples with my second one and to me they were pretty painful. Everytime I moved I could feel them pullling and having them removed was not the greatest feeling either. The rest I had the glue and actually requested it with the hysterectomy. As far as the itching I have had that with all of my recoveries including with the staples. I asked my doctor about it and he said the itching was just part of the healing. On me I think that my incision looks better with the glue than what it looked with the staples but they were preformed by 2 different doctors also
