Re: Impact of Hysterectomy at 35

I am 42 and had mine 4 weeks ago, I am still healing but I do feel so much BETTER than before the surgery.

Re: Impact of Hysterectomy at 35

I am 34 and 2.5 weeks post-op from a TAH. I seem to be healing very well and getting along much better than I thought. I still have moments where I can't believe it's all over, and I think I might be a bit more emotionally stable now than I was before the surgery.

The worst part of my recovery is not being able to do anything, it sounds like such a great idea not having to work, clean, cook or do laundry until you aren't allowed!

Re: Impact of Hysterectomy at 35

I'm 32, and my doctor has just suggested that I have an LAVH. I would be keeping both ovaries. I have horribly painful menstrual cycles, heavy bleeding. Ultrasound showed about a 6.5 cm fibroid.

She told me to go home and think about it. I'm just so nervous about this, and I feel like I am too young to be going through this, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I already have 3 children, and my husband has had a vasectomy, so we don't plan on having more children.

Re: Impact of Hysterectomy at 35

I turned 37 on March 20th - had LAVH w/ both ovaries removed & a bowel resection on March 9th due to severe bleeding and pain for the past 15 years. I bled constantly for 3 years!!
My surgery was quick and painless (did not take any pain medication)!! I went into surgery at 10am on the 9th and was home on the 10th by 9:30!! I feel like a completely new woman - if I knew I was going to feel this good, I would have had this surgery 20 years ago!!! LOL!
I am unable to take any hormone treatments so I am experiencing some mild hot flashes, night sweats, heart palpitations, and anxiety but nothing that compares to the horrible bleeding that I had before!!
The best advice is to take it easy after the surgery - don't try to be superwoman/mom - take time to heal & let your body rest!!

Re: Impact of Hysterectomy at 35

Today went pretty well. I was a nervous wreck but they were able to do a LAVH and I am sitting up in the chair for the first time right now. So I am just starting the "after" but I feel better then I though I would. Just major cramps that do not go away.
