No tummy binder for me!

My doctor told me no tummy binder she says it increases stomach pressure, anyone else told that, I trust and love my surgeon so I'm going to listen, actually it does make sense. Cat

Re: No tummy binder for me!

My surgeon had the same opinion, especially for the type of surgery I'm having. I guess she uses them sometimes for the abdominal ones.

I didn't ask, didn't order one, haven't missed it.

My doctor told me I didn't need one either and she was RIGHT!

Re: No tummy binder for me!

Yes, they are generally more beneficial where abdominal surgeries are concerned.

I had an abdominal hysterectomy and would've given anything to have found this site in time to order one or at least knew they existed! My hip-to-hip incision and extensive swelling was very difficult to support with just my hands when getting up or moving around. No comfort there at all.

Best wishes for your surgery and recovery!

Re: No tummy binder for me!

I had one overnighted my first day home. I did feel better with it on but I really only needed it one day. You heal so darn fast that it's a waste of money to get one. Oh well, maybe a friend might need it in the future.

Re: No tummy binder for me!

They gave me the choice in post-op and I used it for first 3 days. It didn't fit (too long for my body) right and until I had it off on day 3 I didn't realize how much discomfort I was in with it! Never used it again!

Re: No tummy binder for me!

I had my pre-op today and asked my Dr. about a binder but she said I wouldn't need one either.

Re: No tummy binder for me!

I had one from here on the site, and it was wonderful for the type of surgery I had orginally. But it does put pressure on the adominals and depending on the type of surgery, it may not be best for you.

I had to have a secondary surgery and after that the binder was no good for me for several weeks. A good pair of granny panties will hold you nice and snug.
