hello all!..just thought i'd chime in here with my experience--maybe it will answer a couple of your questions, or atleast ease some fears and anxieties.
--procedure----tvh/a&p repair/bladder-rectal repositoining
--procedure time----30 minutes
--pain in recovery---pretty bad due to not having good pain control..had allergic reaction to morphine so had to wait til that was out of my system before getting something else..finally got a Demoral injection and pain went from an 8/9 to a 1 in a matter of minutes.
--hospital stay---overnight
--catheter--yes, overnight
--before being discharged---had to pass gas and keep down solid foods
--does cerix have to go--yes with tvh it goes
--bed rest---was up and walking the next morning early
--pathology report--done on uterus and cervix
--pain meds after surgery--oral darvocet started the morning after procedure...was off pain med by day 3 post op
--bowel prep---yes, fleets enema night before..also on a liquid diet that day too.
--post-op restrictions--no heavy lifting, housework, or driving for 2 weeks....was released from GYN's care at 5 weeks post op
--bleeding after surgery---very minimal..lasted about 2 weeks.
--dr's orders--eat well balanced meals, lots of fruits and veggies, drink plenty of fluids, walk, walk, and walk some more, and use a stool softener for the first few weeks post-op.

cant think of anything else at the moment....i hope this helped some of you ladies waiting for your TVH...again, this is ONLY MY EXPERIENCE, NOT MEDICAL ADVICE..make sure you follow YOUR DR'S orders, not anyone elses...wishing everyone an uneventful surgery and recovery................stay well......*diana*

Ouch dg;

you shouldn't have ahd to wait for the MS to clear your system, they could have given you narcan which clears narcs out almost imm. It is rather fun to watch. in the ER we'd get od's give them a shot of Narcan and they would come up royally ****** that their high had been so rudely interupted......
hmmmmm

Sorry you had to suffer like that, but now you know about morphine and you and I'll bet you never forget to tell them next time no MS
