I'm back and doing ok- a new princess

Hi! Had an LSH this morning at 7:30 AM, came home at 3 PM. Had some nausea even with the zofran. Got some phenergan, kept going in and out in recovery, but by 2 PM, I felt good enough to leave. Had to bring home a catheter that I will remove tomorrow. Because I have neurological problems, my Dr. didn't know if I would be able to start my urine flow right after surgery and said he didn't want me back in the ER at 2 AM to get a catheter. I agreed. I have been drinking a lot of water. Walking around the bed and bathroom a little bit when I had to empty my bag.
DH can't really remember what DR found. That's why I always hated sending him with the kids to the DR. This is all the way out of his element and comfort zone. The Dr. did show him pictures, one of which he sent home with me. It appears to me, though I am not a Dr. - nor do I play one on t.v.- that there were some cysts on my right ovary. Apparently, the uterus wasn't too enlarged, as he was able to remove it laprascopically. He guessed it to be he size of a grapefruit prior to surgery. All I know, is tha my ribs don't feel quite so crowded.
My only problem is getting in and out of bed. Especially in. Any suggestions?
Oh, next big complaint. DH went to get my prescriptions filled. They told him it would take a little bit, so he went shopping and had copies of a map made. He was gone 2-1/2 hours! I did have 16 y.o. DS, but I didn't really want to ask him help me with my catheter bag, so I ended up doing it myself. Other than that and getting in bed, I am fine. Would appreciate any suggestions for getting in bed.
Thanks, and good luck to all of you!
Ronda

I'm back and doing ok- a new princess

Hi Ronda. I'm still awaiting my hyst date (12/7) but I had surgery last year for peritonitis and after 2 weeks in hospital was sent home with an open 8 inch incision. Talk about problems getting in and out of bed!! I found getting in was the hardest, too. I propped up a bunch of pillows at the head of the bed, sat on the side of the bed, twisted my body around so that my back could (gradually) rest against the pillows and then pulled my legs up one at a time.

By the time you figure out just the right way for you, you'll probably be so much better you won't be having any problems anymore!

Glad to know you're doing well.

Chris

Thanks, Chris, the extra pillows at the head of the bed seem to help. I also have put a stepstool by the side of my bed. I can put one leg at a time up there and then kinda push up with my feet and pull one leg at a time. Still very painful, but I can get in and out by myself. This is the 2nd day, and I am noticing my stitches more. Guess the anesthesia has worn off.
