so far so good after hysterectomy

This is week one for me. Didn't wake up with a headache, praise God👏! I'm still somewhat constipated. But overall this morning, I'm okay.

Re: so far so good

That's great, aside from the constipation. Are you taking something for it? I found that acidophilus and Milk of Magnesia helped with mine. Lots of water too.

Re: so far so good

Glad your headaches are gone. Oddly I have found that a cup of black coffee has helped me with the constipation. I have had a cup of black coffee two times since I got home and both times I was able to go within an hour. The stool softeners also have helped tremendously.

Re: so far so good after hysterectomy

Hi- I am 10 days post op and was constipated for 5 days (really scary as I was convinced I had a bowel obstruction)... I didn't
Here is the laundry list I tried (not sure which was the magic...but happy to share- still doing all daily and am regular!)
Peri-colace - 2 pills/ twice a day
Miralax- once a day
Peppermint tea
Coffee at breakfast
Heating pad on belly ( only thing I stopped and now use ice packs for swelling)....
Hope this helps

Hi PennyAngel25
So glad to hear that you weren't plagued today with the headache. I suffered with those for 8 days and then my Doctor suggested a strong cup of coffee -- it really did help. I don't usually do the caffeine thing so I had forgotten that could help.

So many of us have been plagued with constipation. Drjaise has given you some good suggestions. I had my dvTH/BSO and prolapse repairs on July 7th and I still take Mirolax every day. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

Best wishes on your recovery. So glad you found HysterSisters. We are here for you

Re: so far so good after hysterectomy

Im 2 days post op. Haven't pooped yet. Still really slow going obviously.
Thanks for the tips on meds. Im on Colace and Norco and ibuprofen,
Which I haven't taken yet. Norco is very constipating. The coffee trick does work.
I remember my mom doing that
