Would you do it again?

I'm one who had complications in surgery and in recovery but would still do it all again for the result I have 3 and a bit months later. More energy, no more leg or lower back pain, no need for analgesics or pads, no more incessant endless periods and clots, hugely available now for love life which has never been better etc.......So even if things do go a little skewed from the plan, the surgery may still have the benefits you may be looking for. It is a big deal though and don't let anyone rush you. You do have a choice as to whether and when. It might not go as smoothly as planned so have a plan B too. All the best for those contemplating and in active recovery. Hang in there.

Would you do it again?

I had my hysterectomy in January 2007, and it was the best thing that I could have done for myself. It is truly amazing when you realize how much a faulty uterus ruled your life.

I can remember how scared I was in those days before the surgery, and what a difference this board made to me. A good friend of mine just had a hysterectomy, and her recovery has brought back so many of the memories of those early days.

Please keep in mind that every day of recovery is better then the previous, and then one day it will be a distant memory!

Hang in there!

Would you do it again?

Would most definitely do it again! It's amazing to me how I got used to coping with all the problems associated with an enlarged uterus and many fibroids, but those problems just got very gradually worse over many years, and I thought it was all very "normal." Well, it wasn't normal, and I was kicking myself after recovering from the surgery that I had waited a couple of years longer than I needed to (my doc was great, she never tried to push me into it). Life post hysterectomy has been GREAT!

Would you do it again?

Yes, I am so glad that I had the TAH. Its only been two weeks ago today that I came home from the castle. Today I went to the mall and bought a dress for my daughter's upcoming wedding. The best part was that I could put on a dress and see a fairly flat stomach. I had five fibroids, the largest was 13.5 cm - so I'd been suffering from having a uterus that made me appear six months pregnant. Last night I slept on my stomach for the first time in two years. There is nothing fun about surgery, and the recovery requires lots of patience. But it was definitely worthwhile. Be strong and brave and celebrate every step along the journey to good health. All my best to all my sisters.

Would you do it again?

I'm new to this site (only 3 1/2 weeks post-op), but wanted to say that with the limitations I was having because of my issues, I would do it again in a heartbeat! I am looking forward to getting my life back!

Recovery hasn't been 1/2 as bad as I feared and I am hoping that yours will be the same. The first few days post-op were the hardest, but it got better for me each day.

Would you do it again?

I, too, would do it again in a heartbeat. I had a really easy recovery and almost no pain (yay, laparascopic surgery). I know some people have had a worst time of it than me, but I wish I'd had it done years ago.

Would you do it again?

After 13 years of pain, medical bills from ultrasounds, er visits with pain and bleeding, laparascopic surgeries etc.... 10 weeks post op, all I can say is that I wish I would have listen to my Dr sooner. Today I feel I got my life back and my dysfunctional reproductive system does not control my life anymore
