Depression after hysterectomy... is this a normal response?

I had surgery July 6.. robotic assisted removal of endo adhesions, uterus and cervix. I have my ovaries still. I noticed a few days ago I feel very depressed. I stopped taking my birth control hormones July 5th.. I was taking them for the last 7 years and will not be taking them again. I am hoping this is a temporary feeling and I will be back to "normal" soon.

could be your ovaries are not 'awake' yet. Give it time you are still early on.

Even if you keep your ovaries, they often don't function very well for a while post op. I also took my last birth control pill the day before my surgery, and I had been on them for about 20 years. I was very sad after my surgery and I cried a great deal. I was also irrational and got upset very easily. At about 6 weeks I felt my ovaries kick in, as my emotions levelled out and I felt like myself again.
