Re: Weight Loss due to lack of appetite

I am 7 and 1/2 weeks post op. I didn't have much of an appetite after my TAH either. I lost 18 lbs which I definitely didn't mind. It inspired me to change my eating habits once my appetitie did return and I am now eating health and walking and have lost 22 lbs so far. Turns out this was an unexpected benefit!

Re: Weight Loss due to lack of appetite

I'm almost a week post-op and have lost 4 pounds. I did gain in the first couple days, which I thought was probably all the fluids that rushed to heal. Since then, though, I'm down 4 pounds from my baseline. I really have no appetite.

I am glad to lose a few, too, especially since I'm not moving much!

Re: Weight Loss due to lack of appetite

I lost about 8 pounds the first week and am definitely happy about it. Pre-op I had gained weight from some of the hormones my doctor was trying me on. I really don't have much of an appetite except when I wake up in the morning. I'm not complaining, still trying to get off baby weight. I am trying to walk every day for 30 minutes, but other than that I am not getting much calorie burning opportunities!

Re: Weight Loss due to lack of appetite

I am three weeks post op today and I'm down 5 or 6 pounds from my baseline weight pre op. I did not weigh myself when I first got home because I had heard I would probably gain iv weight.

I am a slow healer from my TAH/BSO so I'm not very active yet so I don't need as many calories as normal.

I have also lost a lot of bloat...my face and chest had basically been bloated for four years. I am down a bra cup size at least.

I have a swelly belly too so I think once I lose that I'll lose another couple of pounds. I am hoping to lose another 10 to 15 pounds so this is a great start.

Re: Weight Loss due to lack of appetite

Hm. I didn't have much appetite for the first week, but it returned with a vengence the second week. I'm now in my 3rd week and my appetite is normal again. I think it has to do with losing the bloating and the gassy feeling.
