What is the difference?

I was wondering what the difference is between Estradiol 2MG (pills) and Vivelle dot 0.1 MG patch? I was started out on the estradiol and then switched to the vivelle. Isn't the patch a much lower dosage? I was taking the pills once a day and now the patch is changed twice a week.

Confusing!

I just recently have switched from .1 vivelle dot to the 2mg. pill form. I had trouble with my skin and itching. My dr put me on the 2mg. dosage because it goes into the system differently than the patch. It has to go through the liver and it takes more to get what we need. The patch doesn't go through the liver, but directly into the bloodstream. I believe they are equal in what I am getting. It just takes more of the pill to get what I was getting in the patch. Does this make any sense?

I have not had any problems going from one to the other. I feel I am hormonally balanced and I have been on it 2 weeks.

I was switched from one to the other because I take meds for acid reflux on a daily basis and my DR realized it was effecting the absorbtion.
