progesterone, Night sweats help please
Hi there,
I am writng on behalf of my dear mother she is 53 years had a tah approx 12 years ago, kept ovaries, she managed on femtran 50 patch for many years, recently she has had heart problems and high cholestrol, so doctor told her to go off patch she is suffering severe hot flushes and night sweats along with many other symptoms I just wondered could she use progesterone cream alone for the sweats etc..
My gyn told me estrogen was good for your heart and her doc told her she won't be going back on the patches again. some people just don't understand she can't go on like she is, she feels terrible.any sugestions on this would be appreaciated.
thanks from shazza nz

progesterone, Night sweats help please
Has your mom talked to her doc about what else it might be ok to take, since he doesn't want her on estrogen? She could try a progesterone cream but I'm not sure if it would help or not. Also I've read that progesterone cream can actually create more estrogen in your body.........although if she's not taking any estrogen, I don't know how that would affect her. Does she take any natural supplements............like black kohosh, flaxseed oil, primrose oil, vitamin E, calcium? Also has she ever tried any of the natural products that are supposed to help with menopausal symptoms...........Remifemin, Estroven, Rejuvenex?
Here's a link to a page about menopausal symptoms and natural supplements:
http://www.healthcatalog.com/menopause.htm
Also I'd like to suggest that you think about posting on the No Desert Hormone Oasis............it's for women who can't take hrt. The gals there are great and you might find some good suggestions there.
Good luck to you and your mom --
Ann
