7 weeks post hysterectomy, now what ?!

Had my 6 week follow up and Dr just asked if I was managing to do everything ok , which o am ! Confused though in regard to lifting , I'm lifting shopping etc , Hoover without any issues I'm aware of.
Still feel "tender" round abdomen and groin feels as if stretching (if that makes sense!) and if do too much running about feel bit dodgy and dizzy.
Contemplating work a couple of days a week starting Christmas week but a lot think I'm mad but if don't I feel ill be anxious about going in the new year.
Not even sure what we should and shouldn't be doing at 7 weeks ?! Consultant didn't do an internal at follow up, said ok for intercourse(too scared yet) and I asked about running he said wait til 10-12 weeks , any tips ladies ? I feel like I'm getting very lazy and brain dead (have quite a senior role running nursery clinics ) thanks

At 7 weeks, I had definitely resumed my "normal life". For the exception of being careful about what I lifted.
Please bear in mind that the longer you wait, the hardest it is going to be.
I was quite active during my recovery so It helped when I returned to work.
Good luck

Agree with GPMS. Had TAH BSO and was back at work at 5 weeks , I am an accountant so a desk job but up to 12 hours per day and total normality had resumed by week 6. I walked every day during recovery covering up to 7 miles per day and was back at Zumba/ small runs by 6 weeks. I guess everyone is different and it will depend on how well your recovery has gone.

Hope you are back to normal soon. X

You are still healing. You really should wait at least 90 days post surgery to do any resistance or high impact. You have a much higher risk of prolapse now, so you may want to reconsider running as exercise as high impact exercise is cited as a leading cause of weakening the tissues which leads to prolapse. My doctor told me no high impact or resistance for three more months and I'm 7 weeks out. Good luck to you!

Thanks I've read conflicting things really , am shattered today as did some sorting/housework for elderly grandfather , feel broken 😔😏 5 months no running makes me sad but Dr said another 2-4 weeks that would take me to 8 to ten weeks . So much conflicting info

Re: 7 weeks post hysterectomy, now what ?!

For what it's worth, I think you need to listen to your doctor on this one, and also listen to your body... Only you and your doctor know what you have been through, and only you know how your body feels. Everyone has had a different mixture of stuff done to them and we all heal differently - I read about people who have got straight back on with life with envy as I seem to be falling into the not so fast recovery category: the scars are nicely healed, no pain from the surgery but my body really hasn't coped well with the tissue trauma so still swollen and uncomfortable and just having to work with it. I was quite disappointed to discover that the '6 week recovery' is just a bit of an average that really refers to basic healing of wounds...

Re: 7 weeks post hysterectomy, now what ?!

Hi thanks , same , lots of swelling , today was a bit of a wake up call , busy day shopping , shattered and even felt quite faint , my own fault . Just 7 week now and feel ok til time like this and frustrated with my body . I've also developed some joint pain in my wrist which I've never had , wondered if may be oestrogen related .
