Surgery Tuesday, no bowel movement yet

I had my hysterectomy on Tuesday and all that remains are my overies. I'm doing alright but I haven't had a bowel movement.... Have been taking stool softeners and even broke down and took a laxative last night and still have not gone! When can I expect this to happen???

U could try going for a suppository. I know it's not a favorite thing to do but it may help

You might want to give your doctor a call. For one, using a laxative this early could end up causing more issues.

Are you drinking plenty of water?

I also had my abdominal Tuesday july 2nd and came home on the 4th and did not have a bm till thursday and then i took sennacot now i am rugular. Other then that how are you feeling

I agree with the suppository. Just from my experience, I would advise that you don't take any laxatives. I did that a couple days ago and I was cramping horribly all day long, and then finally started going and had the runs for hours and hours. It's not worth it. Glycerin suppository is gentle and will help you get the poo out without making you cramp and on the toilet for hours.

Push the fluids and make sure you walk as much as possibly to get things moving. On day 3, I kept getting the urge to go but couldn't so the nurse gave me milk of magnesia. That night I went several times and it made my tummy very upset. It's going to take time to clear out your system.

Also, I have been taking stool softeners with every meal and it's really helped me. Was able to go this morning and it was very soft and easy to get out. Good luck!!!

Glycerin suppositories...I was horribly impacted with stool after my surgery and the next step was the ER...put one of these in and the next morning, I went and it wasn't painful
