Re: Post-op 5 days...still no BM !!!!!!

Individually wrapped Sunsweet Prunes, oatmeal with berries, tons of water, fruit, veggies, and stool softners helped me immensely. I also did not take any narcotics but stuck to Motrin. It wasn't easy but I am now three days post op and the pain is tolerable.

Re: Post-op 5 days...still no BM !!!!!!

Hello
My surgery was on a Monday afternoon and by that evening in the hospital, they gave me regular food and said I was fine. I was taking Norco for pain which made me dizzy and a bit nauseated, 800 Ibuprofen for inflammation, drank LOTS of water daily, took Gas-x (extra strength) and 2 stool softeners a day. By Saturday I had not had a BM so I called my doctor. He told me to do an enema. The going wasn't comfortable but it worked wonders! Three days later, I had not had another BM and things were worse. Anyway after getting that one to move, I took myself off of the Norco and just did the Ibuprofen. I watched my diet more closely and added more fiber. Things got much better after.

Don't suffer! Take what you need to get relief. Take it slow, rest and let others take great care of you. Hugs to you!!

Re: Post-op 5 days...still no BM !!!!!!

It took my body 6 days to produce a BM. I ate quite a bit of fruit and drank a ton of water, but didn't take any laxatives or stool softeners. I also haven't had any pain with elimination, other than the gas pains I had at the beginning.

If there's one thing I've learned from this forum, it's that every person is different.
