rectocle surgery

I just had surgery on tuesday the 17th of aug. for a rectocele
which was a grade 4. My gYno did the surgery its been 2 days and still havent had a bm, really worried about the first one being very painful... Dr. has me on stool softeners and miralax, but still nothing yet. Other than that the surgery went well stayed in hospital one nite and went home by noon the next day.. Was glad for that. I just hope things start moving soon....
Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: rectocle surgery

The Miralax should work nicely. If you are on narcotic pain meds, they will slow things down a bit. You can take the Miralax 2x a day, but my recommendation would be to just increase the next dosage to 1.5 times what you have been taking. It is very gentle and does take a day or two to work. I love it...it is my friend :-)

Re: rectocle surgery

I also had this surgery, my first BM was very painful, mine was 7/2/10 I've had my check up at 6 weeks, all was fine, my Doc asked me what I was taking, I still take the softners and I've added fiber tables to my daily meds. I find the fiber works best for me and best part, they taste good, my doc told me to keep it up.
