Vaginal ring?

Hello sisters!! I am just really curious, I saw a post somewhere on here where the lady mentioned a vaginal ring. I have never heard of this. Someone please tell me what it is and what is its purpose. Is it a HRT or just something to help with libido or what, cause if something to help with libido I am in need in that area.

Thanks alot in advance

Vaginal ring?

Hi!

There are a couple of vaginal rings that might be what you read about. One is Femring, the other is Estring. Femring is use to treat symptoms of menopause while Estring is meant to treat vaginal dryness/atrophy. Estring does not give relief from hot flashes, night sweats, etc.

I checked your Member Survey and see that you're using estrogen, but not progesterone. Your signature line says you had severe endo. Is your doctor confident that it was all removed? Some doctors won't prescribe estrogen right after surgery when endo is part of the diagnosis, preferring that patients wait a period of time before it is started to give the endo time to die off. Or, some doctors will prescribe estrogen along with progesterone or progestin. Progesterone and progestin can help counteract the effect of estrogen on endo. It's something you can check with your doctor about. I've read stories on this site of endo returning after surgery.

Testosterone is the hormone women use to help with missing or low libido. Most of us who post in the Hormone Jungle use compounded bio-identical testosterone cream from a compounding pharmacy.

It's best to have your free and total testosterone levels checked first to be sure you are actually lacking testosterone. There are other causes for low libido.

I hope this helps!

Vaginal ring?

Hi easy going

It could have been me that mentioned the vaginal ring as I may have to have one fitted for a different purpose. I've had a bit of a prolapse and the vaginal ring is designed to hold up the bits that have slipped until I get to see the consultant. Its completely different to any type of hormone release thing I believe.
