1 week post TAH

Today is my week 1 post TAH. I go into the office today to have my staples removed. I had my TAH on 2/17/2014, I had no spotting or bleeding until Friday, when I had some problems with my constipation. Then again today, I had more spotting again. How long do we let the spotting go before calling the dr? \Otherwise, I continue with pain but don't think it's quite as bad as it was in the beginning. I am getting tired of "hurting" though. I noticed yesterday I cried more than usual. I'm assuming that's from hormones? I've also noticed an "achy" feeling "down there" when I'm sitting. Could that be from being up too much? Again, how long before I call the dr?

Re: 1 week post TAH

Hey there
I started spotting 1 week out for about a week then stopped. I am told that if the bleeding fills up a pad within an hour then you are to call your doc. I have learnt being 5 weeks out that rest and lots of fluids are the order of the day! You will probably find the more you do so early on the more you will hurt. Dont worry about the crying, I still burst into tears 5 weeks out for no apparent reason, and believe although I am on HRT patches now it is definately a hormone thing!
A word of wisdom though, this operation is not a quick recovery, I am 5 weeks out and still hurt (swelly belly). I had such a great day on saturday that I went for a drive with my DH to my MIL for a whole afternoon. I paid for that yesterday, and still feel achy and tired today.
Easy does it is the way to go

Re: 1 week post TAH

Thank you all It is odd but I really feel alittle bit better today. I have only taken my Ibuprofen for pain control today for the 1st day post surgery. Ironically, my incision opened back up in a section after my staples were removed and is now draining but the dr says it will heal over. Fun times!

Re: 1 week post TAH

Spotting can happen for six weeks and should be pink in colour mixed with discharge. If clots or dark red call the doctor . I am nearly 3 wks post op, you will have up and down days only normal with what has happened down there. Take time for yourself be patient. I personally am looking for HRT alternatives, not feeling the idea of putting hormones in me. Take care xx

Re: 1 week post TAH

Today is 7 days post op. I have been very fortunate to not have had any pain or need pain meds. Today, however, I am quite crampy. Not sure why. Every now and then a slight bit of pink on toilet tissue. Wondering if cramping could be ovaries that are mad they lost their friend? i was up and about quite a bit yesterday and wondering if maybe this is a risidual effect fromt that? Thoughts? Maybe I am just going stir crazy sitting in my recliner!

I am so glad we are not alone in our recovery. I took a shower today - now I need a nap.
