Has anyone not felt like being romantic w/dh even w/awhile to go?

Is it just me?? My poor dh... I just DON'T feel like it! I know some of you don't feel like it because it's so uncomfortable right now. And I'm getting my normal bloated, crampy self (my period should start day before surgery ) But every since I got that castle date..... I have been feeling like I am off limits! Poor dh.. he's thinking SIX weeks without?!!! I don't know if it's a "normal" feeling or not. Am I alone here? Maybe I need therapy! Thanks Ladies!

I felt the same way. I think you are very normal. I had a huge set of fibroids and it had started to hurt and had been hurting for a while. Most of the time I would grin and bear it so to speak. And I held up well till a around two weeks before surgery and then I told hubbie I couldn't do it any longer. I sort of felt I needed to concentrate on me at the point and mentally get ready for the surgery. I felt like a football player gettting ready for the playoffs at that point. I was nervous, a bit queasy, scared and at the same time so ready for that day to come to get it over with. So, I understand completely what you are going through. Tell him this, if he thinks of it this way, you will have a little time off, but after you are all fixed up and better, there are no more periods! He will make up for lost time what with no down time each month. So, you take care of yourself now and you can make it up to him later

You are totally normal!! Nothing happened for me and my dh from the time I ended up in the ER and was told I needed this surgery that was way back in the middle of November. I felt off limits too and I was so tired and emotionally overwhelmed before the surgery that we just didn't do anything. He is definately anxious now and so am I, but the weeks really have passed quickly and the end( or a new beginning is in sight...2 more weeks)! I totally agree with vollyball. This is all about you now.

No therapy for you. Definitely not feeling frisky or sexy, and I'm a month beyond you. It seems normal with a lot of the sisters.

There are a few humorous posts on post-op boards (if you dare) along the line of DHs being able to take their needs in hand and not going blind.

Definately in the same boat, and having my surgery a day behind you. My DH just doesn't understand how it can hurt and what I'm getting all worked up about..and just don't feel like it anymore...it down right HURTS all the time ... don't look at me, don't touch me...heck..don't even breathe at me...

For a few years before my hyst. I had absolutely no libido whatsoever....zip....zero....zilch....nada. Since I was single it wasn't a problem. Then 3 days after surgery my libido walked up and WHAM!!! it hit hard. All I could think of was (in a very sarcastic tone) was "oh haha joke's on me huh? Color me UNAMUSED!" Guess what? I'm no longer single hehehehehehe and....(use your imaginations here ladies!!! hehehehehehe)

This is so great to hear I'm not alone! I will tell dh about how no more periods, no more times I will be cramping, etc. He'll just have to take matters in his own hands, like you said, and be captain of his ship for awhile! lol Your replies crack me up ladies!! Thanks for a little humor to keep everything on the lighter side!! You all are great~

You are normal for sure. My libido was shot before I had my surgery because for the majority of the month I either was having my cycle or was feeling like I was do for it. That just shoots down any romantic thoughts for sure.

You are very normal and good luck to you. Great to have you join us on the hyster sister site.

DITTO - I was the same way.

And the first time after surgery felt like the "first time" all over again because I was so apprehensive about hurting my insides.

Since then things are back to normal except I always use a towel or tissues right afterwards because the "stuff" comes out right away.

So I guess you're as normal as the rest of us crazy hyster sisters - LOL.

Good luck and lots of hugs to you,

Nina
