so easy to get paranoid after surgery!
oy, today's only day two since my LSH, and i'm feeling worse than yesterday. logically i know it's because the numbing drugs have (probably) finally worn off 100 percent...but the fear monster in the back of my head is begging to know what's wrong.
i'm a fluffy gal, so i can't see my belly swollen, but i feel like a balloon! only my lower abdomen is feeling the stretch/pain, though. i've almost had cellulitis before (i have to give myself lovenox injections in the belly - fun right after a hyster, lemme tell ya!), so i've watching every last injection site as well as my incisions...the slightest pink tinge or temperature change in my skin is making me nervous. i can barely go to the bathroom, still, and now i have a 100 degree temp.
trying to rest and keep up with my pain meds (vicodin, which i really don't think is helping much, but i'm not allowed to take much due to medication i'm on), keep resting, and relax...but it's HARD!
please tell me i'm not the only one who's freaking out over every little thing! LOL

Re: so easy to get paranoid after surgery!
I think what you are experiencing is normal. You are going to notice every little thing, and you probably should because you did just have surgery after all!
Keep an eye on the fever, my doc said to let him know if mine got over 101. In the meantime, try to relax as much as you can. You are going to have good and bad days and it will be a few weeks before you start to feel good again.
I know what you mean about the injections, I am diabetic and had to inject my belly too. In fact, 4 months later my belly is still sore and some of the shots really hurt.
It's OK to notice everything and worry about everything just a little. Don't beat yourself up about that. Write down anything that seems unusual and don't be afraid to call your doc or nurse to ask if it's OK, they are used to that.
Take care and best wishes on your continued recovery!

Re: so easy to get paranoid after surgery!
I did the same thing and still do some days.
It takes a few weeks before that goes away. At least it did for me.
Try (and I know it is hard) but try to keep your mind occupied: read, sew, talk on here, surf the web, watch tv whatever it is you like to do.
This helped at least limit the time I worried.
I think it is normal so don't worry about worrying.
